A fun, screen-free hobby where children learn how to sew, grow in confidence and create something amazing with their own hands.

This Kid Sews! is a brand-new sewing club for children in Wigan who want to learn a creative life skill in a fun, relaxed and supportive environment. These weekly classes are designed to spark creativity, build confidence and give children a real sense of pride as they learn how to sew and take home projects they’ve made themselves.

This is a completely screen-free, hands-on activity where children slow down, focus, learn something new and make new friends along the way.

What will my child learn?

These classes are suitable for complete beginners and beyond. Children will be guided step by step and supported at their own pace.

Skills taught include:

threading and safely using a sewing machine
basic stitches and techniques
following simple patterns
cutting, pinning and fabric handling

Projects will include:

bookmarks
scrunchies
pencil cases
bags
decorations
and progression onto larger projects, including clothing

Sessions are tailored to your child’s age and interests, making learning fun, relevant and exciting.

To ensure every child gets the best possible experience, classes are split into two age groups:

🧵 Ages 6–9 years
🕘 Saturdays | 9:30–10:30am

🧵 Ages 10–16+ years
🕥 Saturdays | 10:30–11:30am

Starting: Saturday 10th January 2026

Each session lasts 1 hour and is carefully structured to suit the age, ability and learning style of the group.

Classes will take place at: This Mummy Sews HQ - Pemberton Business Centre, Wigan, WN5 8AA.

Age Groups & Class Times

To keep sessions calm, safe and hands-on, each class is limited to just 8 children — one child per sewing machine.

This means:

lots of individual support
a relaxed learning environment
no rushing or overwhelm

Once places are filled you can go onto a waitlist to be notified when a space becomes available OR check other available days/times of classes.

Classes run weekly and are booked on a monthly basis, allowing your child to build skills, confidence and progress properly.

Your child’s place is then reserved for January
Monthly payments continue for as long as your child attends

*One-off sessions are not offered, as children need at least a few weeks to learn the basics and feel confident using a sewing machine.
