Sewing meet-ups for mums on maternity leave!
Mummy SEW-cials are relaxed, baby-friendly sewing meet-ups designed especially for mums on maternity leave who are craving something just for them.
Think baby group vibes…
🧵 but it’s all about the mummy.
These sessions are a chance to slow down, get out of the house, meet other lovely mums, enjoy a hot brew and gently learn how to sew — all without needing childcare. Your baby is always 100% welcome to come along and join in the fun.
What are Mummy SEW-cials?
Mummy SEW-cials are informal, welcoming sewing sessions where you can:
learn a brand-new life skill from scratch
make beautiful handmade items for your baby (and yourself!)
meet like-minded mums on maternity leave
enjoy proper adult conversation and connection
take some well-deserved me-time in a supportive space
Each Mummy SEW-cial is based around a seasonal theme, so the projects, fabrics and overall vibe change throughout the year.
This term is:
Cosy Winter SEW-cials ❄️, where you’ll be learning to sew winter-inspired projects, working with beautifully cosy fabrics, and creating warm, practical (and gorgeous!) items for you and your baby.
Every Tuesday from 24th Feb - 31st March.
Morning session: 10-11:30am
Midday session: 11:30-1pm
There’s no pressure to finish anything in one session and no expectations — just come as you are, go at your own pace, and enjoy the process.
Do I need sewing experience?
Not at all 💗
Mummy SEW-cials are perfect for complete beginners.
You’ll be guided step-by-step, starting with the basics like threading a sewing machine and simple stitches, and building confidence as you go. If you’ve always thought “I wish I could sew”, this is the perfect place to start.
You’ll have full use of my sewing machines, along with access to a selection of fabrics and haberdashery needed to make different projects throughout the SEW-cial — so there’s nothing you need to bring along to get started.
Can I bring my baby?
Absolutely — babies are always welcome.
You’re welcome to bring:
a car seat
baby carrier
bouncer
play mat
We also have a high chair and a large playpen for more active little crawlers. These sessions are designed with real life and real babies in mind.
How do SEW-cials work?
Mummy SEW-cials follow school term time and school holidays, just like traditional baby classes. This means if you have older children at school, your SEW-cials won’t be affected.
Each SEW-cial has its own seasonal theme, with different fabrics and projects to enjoy throughout the year.
There are two sessions each week, both running on a Tuesday:
Morning Session: 10:00am – 11:30am
Midday Session: 11:30am – 1:00pm
You can book the session time that fits best around your baby’s routine — whether that’s nap time, feeding time, or simply the time of day that feels easiest for you. Once booked, you’ll attend the same session time each week for the duration of the SEW-cial term.
Each session lasts 1.5 hours, giving you plenty of time to:
learn and sew at a relaxed pace
chat and connect with other mums
enjoy a hot brew and biscuits
pause to feed, change or settle your baby whenever you need
There’s absolutely no pressure — if you need to stop, take a break, or give your little one a snack during the session, that’s completely fine. Whatever works best for you.
Changing facilities are available on site, and the space is fully baby-friendly.
I’ll be on hand throughout to help and guide you, and the SEW-cials naturally become a really supportive, welcoming space where mums help and encourage each other too.
Places are limited (8 places only) to keep sessions relaxed and supportive, and mums attending a SEW-cial will always be offered priority booking for the next one — making it easy to continue building confidence, skills and friendships over time.
Pricing & Booking
Mummy SEW-cials are priced at just £12 per session, with bookings taken for the full term.
Each term runs for 5, 6 or 7 weeks, depending on the season and school term dates:
5-week term – £60
6-week term – £72
7-week term – £84
Each session lasts 1.5 hours, giving you plenty of time to relax, learn, sew, chat and tend to your baby — making Mummy SEW-cials incredible value for money.
Why Mummy SEW-cials are booked by the full term
Learning to sew is a skill that builds week by week.
Attending a full term gives you the time and space to:
grow confident using a sewing machine
learn new techniques at a relaxed pace
work through projects properly
and create items you’re genuinely proud of
Coming along occasionally or ad hoc simply isn’t enough time to truly learn how to sew or experience the full benefits of Mummy SEW-cials. This is why places are offered by the full term, rather than as weekly drop-in sessions.
Pay-as-you-go sessions
Mummy SEW-cials are designed as a full-term experience, and this is how places are primarily offered.
On rare occasions, if there is space within a term, a very limited number of pay-as-you-go places may be released. These:
are not guaranteed week to week
are offered on an ad-hoc basis only
are priced at £20 per session
For the best value, the best learning experience, and the opportunity to really build confidence, settle in and make new mum friends, securing your place for the full term is always recommended.

Mummy SEW-cials are aimed at mums on maternity leave, so babies usually attend between 0–12 months.
For more active, crawling babies, I have a large playpen that can be set up. If you’d like this, please email me in advance at info@thismummysews.com so I can make space and adjust the sewing tables accordingly.

That’s completely okay 💗
Babies cry, feed, need cuddles and comfort — and that’s all part of real life on maternity leave. There’s absolutely no pressure to keep sewing if your baby needs you. You can pause at any point to feed, settle or change them, then pick up where you left off when you’re ready.
Mummy SEW-cials are designed to be calm, flexible and baby-friendly — everyone understands, and you’ll never feel rushed or judged.
I’m always on hand to help out, and the session will be so supportive, other mums totally understand and help out too. 🥰
-
My advice is always: you know your child best.
Mummy SEW-cials are not a play centre, and for health and safety reasons, children are not able to run around the studio or touch equipment.
If you feel your child would be happy to sit, play quietly, read, colour, or watch an iPad for the duration of the session, they are welcome to come along. Any older children attending do so at the parent’s own discretion and responsibility.
-
Absolutely 💗
The studio is large enough to accommodate twin and multiple-baby mums. You’ll just need to bring suitable equipment (such as car seats or bouncer chairs) to ensure both babies are safe and settled while you sew.

Mummy Testimonials…
Meet the Teacher
Hi, I'm Debbie. I'm an expert seamstress who has been sewing for my own children for the last 12 years!
I set up my successful small business 'Lola-Pops' from my kitchen table whilst on maternity leave and have grown the business to what it is today! I sold it in 2025 to focus 100% on This Mummy Sews.
I want to share my skills and passion with mums, just like you, and teach you how to sew for your little ones too.
And that’s why I've created This Mummy Sews!
I help mums go from ‘I Can’t Sew’ to ‘Watch Me Go!'
